I recently watched the steroid documentary “Bigger, Stronger, Faster*”(note the asterisk in the title). This movie did a wonderful job of presenting both sides of the steroid world. Almost everything you hear about steroids is negative, but about half way through the documentary it takes a turn, and all of the sudden there are multiple doctors and patients praising steroids. They rattle off a list of side effects and then tell you what the list of side effects is for(hint: it’s something you probably take every day) then compare that list to the side effects of steroids and all of the sudden they don’t seem so bad. The movie quickly snaps you back into reality with the story of a teen steroid related death.
All though I have been and always will be against steroids, this documentary definitely opened my eyes to the other side of the argument and proved to me that these “illegal” steroids if used correctly and not abused can be effective in enhancing injury recovery and for those that want, performance enhancement.
